In the days leading up to Thanksgiving Break, students have learned about the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade both in their classrooms and in the library. Using the book Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy's Parade by Melissa Sweet, students read about innovator Tony Sarg and his contribution to America in the form of the larger-than-life helium-filled balloons we see each Thanksgiving. Students learned about the design and production process of the balloons and watched as thousands of volunteers got them parade ready. Our week of learning culminated this morning with our very own balloon parade! We hope you enjoy the pictures:
