In the days leading up to Thanksgiving Break, students have learned about the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade both in their classrooms and in the library. Using the book Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy's Parade by Melissa Sweet, students read about innovator Tony Sarg and his contribution to America in the form of the larger-than-life helium-filled balloons we see each Thanksgiving. Students learned about the design and production process of the balloons and watched as thousands of volunteers got them parade ready.
